Plant Care – Begonia Alaska Creek
Light: Begonia prefers bright, indirect sunlight. It thrives in well-lit areas but should be protected from direct sunlight, especially during the hottest parts of the day.
Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water the plant when the top inch of soil feels slightly dry to the touch. Begonia enjoys a regular watering schedule, especially during warm periods.
Soil: The soil for Begonia should be well-draining and rich in organic matter. A peat-based potting mix with good aeration is ideal for supporting its growth.
Fertiliser: Begonia benefits from regular feeding. You can use a balanced liquid fertiliser diluted to half strength every 2 to 4 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) to promote healthy foliage and flowering.
Humidity: Begonia  thrives in higher humidity levels. Consider placing a humidity tray nearby or misting the leaves regularly to create a favourable humid environment for the plant.
Fun Fact about Begonia: Did you know? Begonias is that they were named after Michel Bégon, a French politician and avid botanist, who served as the Intendant of the French colony of Haiti in the late 17th century. The Swiss botanist Charles Plumier, who discovered the plant, named it in honor of Bégon as a tribute to his passion for botany. Since then, the name “Begonia” has stuck, and these beautiful plants have become popular ornamental houseplants and garden favorites worldwide.
