Plant Care – Dieffenbachia Starbright
Light: Place your Dieffenbachia Starbright under bright, indirect sunlight and avoid direct sunlight, which will cause its leave to turn yellow. Too much exposure to direct sunlight and high temperatures will cause the plant to dry up, leaves to turn yellow and wilt.
Water: Allow the top surface of the soil to dry up between watering the plant. We recommend watering it once a week or whenever necessary. Avoid overwatering as it may cause waterbeds and lead to root rot. Droopy leaves are a good sign of overwatering or underwatering; touch the soil to check if it is wet or dry to make the final decision.
Soil: The Dieffenbachia thrives in a well-draining potting mix that can retain some moisture.
Fertiliser: Fertilise your plant with a general slow-release fertiliser. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions when fertilising your plant.
Humidity Requirement: Medium
Fun Facts about the Dieffenbachia genus: Did you know? The Dieffenbachia is a genus of flowering plants from the family Araceae. It is commonly known worldwide as the ‘Dumb Cane’ and the ‘Leopard Lady’. The name ‘Dumb Cane’ is derived from the temporary speechlessness that can occur after chewing a piece of the stem, which we highly do not recommend doing.
