Plant Care – Dracaena Fragrans
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight, as it may scorch the leaves.
Water: Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly. Dracaena fragrans is sensitive to overwatering, so it’s best to err on the side of underwatering.
Soil: Plant in a well-draining potting mix, such as a mixture of peat moss and perlite. Ensure the pot has adequate drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.
Fertiliser: Feed every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertiliser diluted to half the recommended strength. Avoid fertilising during the dormant winter months.
Humidity: Dracaena Fragrans can tolerate average indoor humidity levels but will benefit from occasional misting or placing the plant near a humidifier, especially in dry environments.
Fun Fact about Dracaena fragrans: Did you know? Dracaen a fragrans is native to tropical regions of Africa and is often used in traditional medicine to treat various ailments, including respiratory issues and headaches.
