Plant Care – Drosera capensis ‘Cape sundew’
Light: Place your Drosera capensis ‘Cape sundew’ under bright and direct sunlight. It can tolerate partial shade as well. If the plant is placed indoors, place it at a window that receives the best sunlight every day.
Water: Allow the top inch of the soil to dry out before watering your plant. Water your plant evenly and carefully, and avoid soaking them. We recommend using rainwater, distilled water or purified water instead of tap water when watering your plant as tap water can contain low levels of salt and chlorine that can kill your plant.
Soil: The plant requires a sandy peat moss soil mix with a ratio of 1:1. We would not recommend nutritious soil as the plant obtains sufficient nutrients from its prey.
Fertiliser: Avoid fertilising your plant. If the plant is not catching its food, feed it in the traps with live insects.
Humidity Requirement: Medium
Fun Facts about the Drosera genus: Did you know? Also known as the sundews, the Drosera genus has over 190 species of carnivorous plants! They are often grown in soils with poor nutrients as they get their nutrients by luring and digesting insects.
