Plant Care – Ficus Altissima
Light: Place your Ficus Altissima under bright and indirect sunlight. They can grow under the full sun as well! The plant can tolerate partial low light. However, it is not an ideal environment for them to grow in, and they will not survive for long.
Water: Water your Ficus thoroughly and ensure that the soil is evenly moist. Water your plant whenever the top inch of the soil is dry to the touch, and make sure to water till some water flows through the pot’s drainage holes. Underwatering will cause its leaves to dry up and drop off.
Soil: Ficus thrives in well-aerated soil that drains water quickly and, therefore, should not be placed in soils that are too compacted and heavy, which causes prolonged periods of water retention. And this can lead to root problems, for instance, root rot. We recommend using a gritty mix – two parts soil, 1 part pumice, and 1 part perlite topped off with vermicast.
Fertiliser: Fertilise your plant with a general slow-release fertiliser. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions when fertilising your plant.
Humidity Requirement: Medium To High
