Plant Care – Ixora Red
Light: Place your Ixora Red outdoors where it can receive full sun for 6 to 8 hours a day – preferably with a garden that does not receive shade.
Water: Water your plant thoroughly and ensure the soil is evenly moist. Water your plant whenever the top inch of the soil is dry to the touch. And make sure to water till some water flows through the pot’s drainage holes. Never let the soil dry out as the plant may also dry out.
Soil: It thrives in well-draining, slightly acidic soil that can retain some moisture. Placing it in soil that has an alkaline ph level will result in chlorosis.
Fertiliser: Fertilise your plant with a general slow-release fertiliser. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions when fertilising your plant.
Humidity Requirement: Medium. Give it a mist once a day.
Fun Facts about the Ixora genus: Did you know? There are more than 500 species in the Ixora genus, some of which are used in traditional medicine. The flower of the Ixora has four petals and grows in a cluster of 40 to 60!
