Plant Care – Kalanchoe
Light: Kalanchoe thrives in bright, indirect sunlight. It enjoys around 4 to 6 hours of sunlight each day but should be protected from intense, direct sunlight.
Water: Allow the soil to dry out partially between waterings. Kalanchoe is a succulent and can store water in its leaves, so it is essential to avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.
Soil: The soil for plant should be well-draining and sandy. A cactus or succulent mix with good aeration is perfect for its growth and overall health.
Fertiliser: It does not require heavy feeding. You can use a balanced liquid fertiliser diluted to half strength every two to three months during the growing season (spring and summer).
Humidity:Â It is adaptable to normal room humidity levels. It can tolerate dry air but will benefit from occasional misting in hot weather or dry indoor conditions.
Fun Fact about Kalanchoe: Did you know? Kalanchoe is not only a charming houseplant but also has some medicinal uses in traditional folk medicine. Some cultures have used Kalanchoe extracts for various purposes, such as treating minor skin irritations and promoting wound healing. However, it’s essential to note that Kalanchoe contains compounds that can be toxic if ingested in large quantities, so it’s best to keep it out of reach of pets and young children. Enjoy its beauty and unique appearance as an ornamental plant, and it will surely add a touch of elegance to any indoor space.
