Plant Care – Nephrolepis exaltata Boston Fern
Light: Place your Nephrolepis exaltata Boston Fern under bright, indirect sunlight and avoid direct sunlight, which will cause its leave to scorch and dry up. Shaded environments will result in sparse fronds, so we recommend placing them beside a window where they can receive filtered sunlight throughout the day.
Water: Allow the top surface of the soil to dry up between watering the plant. We recommend watering it once a week or whenever necessary. Avoid overwatering as it may cause waterbeds and lead to root rot. Ensure that the soil remains moist and not dry.
Soil: Your fern thrives in a well-draining potting mix that can retain some moisture. They also love a rich soil medium – try giving it some vermicast.
Fertiliser: Fertilise your plant with a general slow-release fertiliser. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions when fertilising your plant.
Humidity Requirement: Medium to High. Place your plant in a well-ventilated area and mist it once a day.
Fun Facts about the Nephrolepis genus: Did you know? The Nephrolepis is a genus of about 30 species of ferns. In the wild, it can grow massively to a size of 2 metres tall!
