Orchids are elegant, long-lasting flowering plants known for their exotic beauty and diverse species. They are popular as houseplants due to their striking blooms and ability to thrive indoors with proper care.
Plant Care – Orchids require a delicate balance of light, water, and humidity to thrive. With the right conditions, they can bloom for months and rebloom annually.
Light: Orchids prefer bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.
Water: Water once a week, allowing the potting medium to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.
Soil: Use a well-draining orchid mix, such as bark, sphagnum moss, or a specialised orchid potting blend.
Fertiliser: Feed with a balanced orchid fertiliser every two weeks during the growing season and reduce feeding in winter.
Humidity: Orchids thrive in 50–70% humidity. If the air is too dry, use a humidity tray or mist the plant occasionally.
Fun Fact about the Orchid: Did you know? Orchids are one of the largest plant families, with over 25,000 species found worldwide!
