Plant Care – Pellionia repens ‘Trailing Watermelon Begonia’ in a Hanging Pot
Light: Place your Pellionia repens under bright and indirect sunlight to draw out a richer colour on its foliage. The plant can tolerate low light, however, it is not an ideal environment for them to grow in.
Water: Water your plants moderately every 3-4 days and mist occasionally to keep humidity high and the soil constantly moist. They prefer to dry out a little between each watering.
Soil: The Pellionia thrives in well-aerated soil that drains water quickly, and therefore should not be placed in soils that are too compacted and heavy, which cause prolonged periods of water retention. And this can lead to root problems, for instance, root rot.
Fertiliser: Generally do not need to be fertilized but light misting of dilute liquid fertilizer at half the dosage is allowed.
Humidity Requirement: Medium
Fun Facts about the Pellilonia genus: Did you know? The Pellilonia is an atypical genus in the house plant trade. Due to its demands for high humidity levels and vulnerability to the cold, it thrives in tropical countries which is why they are usually found more commonly in Asia.
