Plant Care – Philodendron Lemon Lime (Philodendron Hederaceum)
Imported from Holland
Light: Place your Philodendron Lemon Lime under bright, indirect sunlight and do avoid direct sunlight as it will cause its leave to turn yellow. Too much exposure to direct sunlight and high temperatures will cause the plant to dry up, leaves to turn yellow and wilt.
Water: Allow the top surface of the soil to dry up between watering the plant. We recommend watering it once a week or whenever necessary. Overwatering your Philodendron can cause water beds and this will result in root problems. Droopy leaves are a good sign of overwatering, therefore you should skip a week of watering.
Soil: The Philodendron thrives in a well-draining potting mix that can retain some moisture. Do remember to repot when the plant becomes too big and its roots become root-bound.
Humidity Requirement: Medium with warm temperatures
Toxicity: Philodendron leaves are toxic to pets and humans. Typically, ingestion will result in swelling of the lips and tongue, and stomach irritation with possible vomiting.
Additional Care: Trim out any dead, discolored, damaged, or diseased leaves and stems as they occur. Use clean, sharp scissors to avoid tearing or bruising the stems. Snip stems just above a leaf node. Wash the leaves frequently to prevent dust from clogging its pores. If you wish to propagate, take stem tip cuttings and place the stem in water or moist soil and they should root quite easily.
Fun Facts about the Philodendron genus: Did you know? The Philodendron genus contains hundreds of species, a wide variety of beautiful plants and beautiful foliage. Philodendrons have air-purifying abilities and therefore explain why many are grown indoors as house plants! Philodendrons come in two types, vining and non-climbing. Vining plants can grow tall with the proper support and environment while the non-climbers grow upright and exhibit beautiful foliage. Above all, Philodendrons are fast growers as well.
