Plant Care – Philodendron Melanochrysum Variegated
Light: Provide your Philodendron Melanochrysum Variegated with bright, indirect light. It thrives in medium to bright filtered light. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the delicate variegated leaves.
Water: Water your Philodendron Melanochrysum Variegated when the top inch or two of soil feels slightly dry. Avoid overwatering, as it can lead to root rot. Ensure proper drainage by using a well-draining potting mix and a pot with drainage holes.
Fertiliser: Fertilise your plant with a general slow-release fertiliser. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions when fertilising your plant.
Soil: Use a well-draining, airy soil mix for your Philodendron Melanochrysum Variegated. We recommend SILLYSOIL Premium Aroid Mix, a 6-in-1 pre-packed soilless mix with essential nutrients!
Humidity: This plant thrives in high humidity levels. Aim to keep the humidity around 60% to 80%. You can increase humidity by misting the leaves regularly, using a humidifier, or placing the plant on a tray filled with water and pebbles. Ensure the pot is not sitting in the water to prevent waterlogging.
Fun Facts about the Monstera genus: Did you know that the variegation in the leaves of the Philodendron Melanochrysum Variegated is the result of a natural mutation? Variegation occurs when there are variations in pigment distribution in the plant’s cells, resulting in the striking contrast between the green and creamy white or yellow patterns seen in the leaves.
