Plant Care – Syngonium tricolour
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate low light conditions. Direct sunlight should be avoided as it can cause the leaves to scorch and lose their colour.
Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top 1-2 cm of soil feels dry. Reduce watering in the winter months when the plant’s growth slows down.
Soil: Thrives in well-draining potting soil rich in organic matter. A mix containing peat, perlite, and compost is ideal for retaining moisture without becoming soggy.
Fertiliser: Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Dilute to half the recommended strength to avoid over-fertilising.
Humidity: Syngonium tricolour prefers high humidity levels. Regular misting or placing the plant on a tray of pebbles with water can help maintain the required humidity.
Fun Fact about the Syngonium tricolour: Did you know? This plant is known for its ability to change leaf shape as it matures, a phenomenon known as heteroblasty. Young plants typically have arrow-shaped leaves, while older plants may develop more lobed, mature leaves, adding to their decorative appeal.
