Plant Care – Yucca Elephantipes ‘Spineless Yucca’
Light: Place your Yucca Elephantipes ‘Spineless Yucca’ at a location where it can receive full sun, such as an outdoor garden. It can tolerate a slight shade, but too much shade will lead to a leggy plant.
Water: Allow the soil to dry out before watering your plant. Water thoroughly and allow some water to flow through its drainage holes. The Yucca is a drought-tolerant plant and should avoid being overwatered to prevent root rot. Depending on the weather, watering may be required more frequently when placed outdoors.
Soil: The Yucca is native to the desert, which explains their drought tolerance. And with that, they thrive in well-draining, infertile sandy soil.
Fertiliser: Fertilising is not necessary. If you would like, fertilise them with a slow-releasing fertiliser with lower nitrogen levels.
Humidity Requirement: Medium
Fun Facts about the Yucca genus: Did you know? The Yucca is a genus of shrubs and trees in the family Asparagaceae, which is the same family as the Sansevieria genus! Yucca is also incorporated in some dishes as well. The Yucca has to be cooked for it to be edible as its peel contains poisonous cyanide.
