Plant Care – Pachira

Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but can adapt to low light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight, which may scorch the leaves.

Water: Water when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry. Pachira likes its soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Ensure good drainage to prevent waterlogging and root rot.

Soil: Thrives in a well-draining potting mix. A mix of peat, perlite, and sand is ideal to ensure good aeration and drainage.

Fertiliser: Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser once a month during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding in autumn and winter when growth naturally slows.

Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity levels. Regular misting or using a humidifier can help maintain the humidity around the plant, especially in dry indoor environments.

Fun Fact about the Pachira: Did you know? The money tree is often associated with the concept of feng shui, where it is believed to bring good fortune and wealth. In its native Central and South America, the Pachira plant can grow up to 18 metres tall and produces large, edible nuts that taste similar to peanuts.
