Succulents are plants characterised by their thick, fleshy leaves and stems, which store water, enabling them to thrive in arid conditions. They come in a diverse range of sizes, shapes, and colours, making them popular choices for both indoor and outdoor gardening.
Plant Care – Succulents are low-maintenance plants that require minimal attention. They prefer well-draining soil, infrequent watering, and plenty of light. Regularly inspect for pests and ensure good air circulation to keep them healthy.
Light: Bright, indirect sunlight for at least six to eight hours daily. Southern or western exposure within your home is ideal.
Water: Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water deeply but infrequently, approximately once every two to four weeks, depending on environmental conditions.
Soil: Well-draining soil, such as a commercial cactus or succulent mix, or a homemade mix of one part potting soil to one part coarse sand, pumice, or perlite.
Fertiliser: Use a diluted, balanced fertiliser (10-10-10) or a specific cactus/succulent fertiliser once a month during the spring and summer growing seasons.
Humidity: Low humidity levels of 10-30% are preferred. Ensure good air circulation to prevent mould and mildew.
