What is SILLYSOIL?

SILLYSOIL Akadama aims to simplify your gardening tasks. Heat-treated at 300°C to create a high-quality Akadama, making it perfect for bonsai, orchids, and other container-grown plants. This takes the uncertainty out of selecting the right potting mix.

SILLYSOIL Akadama features varying levels of porosity, grain sizes, and water retention capacities, resulting in a well-balanced, well-draining mix that maintains optimal moisture for your plant roots. This blend supports healthy plant respiration.

As akadama breaks down, it compacts slightly, encouraging fine root growth. Fine roots improve the tree’s stability and nutrient uptake, which can lead to more balanced and controlled shoot growth. This can be particularly important when shaping and training the bonsai’s structure.

When should I use SILLYSOIL Akadama?

SILLYSOIL Akadama can be used on its own or mixed with other substrates such as pumice, lava rock, or organic matter, depending on your plants’ specific requirements. They are highly recommended for propagation due to its air pockets that encourage healthy plant growth.
