Big Mandarin Orange, also known as the Mandarin Orange tree (Citrus reticulata), is a vibrant and auspicious plant often seen during Chinese New Year. With its lush green leaves and bright orange fruits, it symbolises prosperity and good fortune.
This plant is highly popular during Chinese New Year as the word for “orange” in Chinese sounds similar to “wealth” and “luck.” The round shape and golden hue of the fruits resemble gold coins, signifying abundance, happiness, and success for the coming year.

Plant Care – Requires moderate maintenance to keep it thriving and fruiting.
Light: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight but can tolerate some direct sunlight for a few hours daily.
Water: Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top 2-3 cm of soil feels dry.
Soil: Well-draining, slightly acidic soil, such as a mix of loamy soil and organic compost.
Fertiliser: Use a balanced citrus fertiliser every 4-6 weeks during the growing season for optimal fruit production.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity; mist occasionally or place near a humidity tray if the air is too dry.
