Plant Care – Nandina Domestica Kokedame
Light: Place your Nandina Domestica Kokedame at a location where it can receive bright and indirect sunlight. The plant can tolerate lower light conditions. However, low light will slow down your plant’s growth rate.
Water: The moss ball should be kept evenly moist but not waterlogged. Mist the Kokedame thoroughly when the top inch of the moss ball feels dry to the touch.
Moss ball: Removing the moss ball from a Nandina domestica Kokedame is generally not recommended unless necessary. The moss ball serves as a natural container and provides support for the plant’s roots. It helps retain moisture and provides a stable environment for the plant.
Fertiliser: Dilute a balanced NPK fertiliser to half strength and mist over the moss. Repeat this every month.

Fun Facts about the Nandina: Did you know? Despite its common name, Nandina domestica is not related to true bamboo. It belongs to the Berberidaceae family and is native to eastern Asia. The name "Heavenly Bamboo" was given due to its bamboo-like appearance, with tall, slender stems and clusters of leaves resembling bamboo foliage. However, it is not a true bamboo plant and does not spread invasively like bamboo species.
