Plant Care – Marigold
Light: Place your Marigold in locations where it can enjoy at least six hours of sunlight. Marigolds should be planted with ample spacing as healthy marigolds require plenty of air circulation.
Water: Water your Marigold deeply and ensure the soil is dry before the next watering cycle.
Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix for your Marigold plant. Keep the ph level of the soil above 6.0.
Fertiliser: Fertilising is not necessary.
Humidity Requirement: Medium.
Fun Facts about the Marigold: Valued for its velvet-textured, brightly coloured blooms in shades of yellow, orange and brown, the French Marigold is shorter and has a more spreading habit than its relative, the African marigold (Tagetes erecta). The plant is used in companion planting for many vegetable crops. Its root secretions are believed to kill nematodes in the soil, and it is said to repel harmful insects, such as whiteflies on tomatoes.
