Bonsai
$48.00
Bonsai is a unique and captivating form of horticulture and artistic expression. It involves the cultivation and careful shaping of miniature trees in containers, creating living works of art that embody the beauty and essence of nature in a compact form.
Plant Care – Bonsai
Light: Bonsai trees should be placed in a location that receives adequate sunlight. The specific light requirements vary depending on the species, but most bonsai prefer bright, indirect light. Avoid placing them in extreme temperatures or drafty areas.
Water: Water the tree when the topsoil feels slightly dry to the touch, but avoid overwatering or letting the soil dry out completely. Use a watering can with a fine nozzle to gently water the soil surface until it drains out of the drainage holes.
Soil: Bonsai require well-draining soil to prevent root rot. Use a bonsai-specific soil mix or create a mix of akadama, pumice, and lava rock to provide proper drainage. Repotting should be done every 1-3 years to refresh the soil and prevent root binding.
Fertiliser: Bonsai trees benefit from regular fertilization during the growing season (spring to autumn). Use a balanced, slow-release bonsai fertilizer or liquid fertilizer diluted to half-strength. Follow the specific instructions for your tree species and avoid overfertilizing, as it can harm the roots.
Humidity Requirement: Bonsai trees generally prefer higher humidity levels. You can increase humidity by placing the pot on a humidity tray filled with water or by misting the leaves regularly. Adequate air circulation is also essential to prevent fungal diseases, so avoid overcrowding trees.
Fun Facts about the Aglaonema genus: Did you know? Bonsai cultivation has been practiced for over a thousand years in China and Japan. The art of bonsai was initially developed by Chinese scholars who would grow miniature trees in containers as an expression of their love for nature.
